The Eastern Tailed-Blue (Cupido comyntas) is a tiny yet enchanting butterfly, easily recognized by the delicate tails on its hindwings and the shimmering blue that flashes when it opens its wings. When closed, its wings appear soft gray with tiny orange spots, allowing it to blend into grasses and meadows where it thrives. Though small, this butterfly is often abundant, bringing little sparks of color to roadsides, fields, and gardens throughout the summer.
